Dharman, the much-awaited action drama starring Superstar Rajinikanth, has been trending ever since its title and first-look poster dropped online. Helmed by director Ashwath Marimuthu, the film stars Simran and Raashii Khanna in major roles and is produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raj Kamal Films International. With Rajinikanth returning to the big screen in a fresh avatar, anticipation around Dharman has been building steadily among Tamil cinema fans.
The initial reveal quickly sparked conversations on social media, with many viewers drawing comparisons between Dharman and the popular American series The Good Doctor. A leading Tamil media portal further claimed that Rajinikanth’s film is an official remake and that Kamal Haasan had secured the rights. These reports spread fast, raising questions about the film’s originality.
Putting all speculation to rest, writer-director Ashwath Marimuthu has clarified that Dharman is not a remake of any show or film. Calling the circulating reports “fake news,” he confirmed that the story is original and written specifically for the big screen. The film is said to combine action, drama, and comedy, with Rajinikanth playing a seasoned doctor and Simran as his love interest.
Raashii Khanna is reportedly set for a crucial supporting role that appears in the second half of the film, while Anirudh Ravichander is on board as the music composer. With a strong cast, original script, and high production values from Raj Kamal Films International, Dharman is shaping up to be one of Rajinikanth’s most anticipated releases in recent years.
