Tollywood is facing a strange issue. Back then, there were many heroes in Telugu Film Industry who acted in dozens of films and released them within a single year. Superstar Krishna was known to shoot three films in a single day, and he released 18 films in one calendar year. Navarasa Natasarvabhouma Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao remains an unparalleled filmmaker. He completed an all-time classic like Dana Veera Soora Karna, portraying three pivotal roles (Karna, Duryodhana, and Krishna) and directing it himself, all within a remarkable 45 days. Sobhan Babu typically starred in three to four films annually. Director Dasari Narayana Rao taught the industry how to complete films efficiently in a short timeframe. But, that's all.in the past now. 

However, in recent times, Telugu cinema has undergone significant changes. Despite large casts and the implementation of advanced technology, film shootings are frequently delayed. Big projects with prominent actor combinations are announced, but their release dates often remain uncertain, causing confusion among audiences.

Megastar Chiranjeevi's Vishwambhara has commenced filming more than a year ago. Directed by Vasishta Mallidi, known for Bimbisara, the film is described as a fantasy thriller. UV Creations is backing the project with a substantial budget. Nevertheless, there is still no clear indication of the movie's release date. It has been a considerable period since the release of Megastar's last film, Bhola Shankar. Fans have been waiting eagerly for Vishwambhara. While it is anticipated that director Anil Ravipudi, who recently announced Mega 157, might complete the film swiftly and present it to audiences by Sankranthi 2026, But, again predicting the start and completion dates of Srikanth Odela's film remains uncertain.

The release date for Nandamuri Balakrishna's Akhanda 2 is announced as September 25. NVK is the only hero who has been releasing films regularly. But, his next is yet to be announced. Akhanda 2 Thandavam is Directed by Boyapati Srinu, the film is being produced by Ram Achanta and Gopi Achanta under the 14 Reels Plus banner.

There is no need to speculate about the Mahesh Babu - Rajamouli film. Its release timeline remains unknown. The film is hinting at its ambition to transcend pan-India reach and target a global, potentially Hollywood-level release. Therefore, inquiries about its release date are currently premature. Rajamouli is presently filming crucial scenes with the lead actors in various exotic locations, including the forests of Odisha. Priyanka Chopra is reportedly playing the female lead in this high-budget production by K.L. Narayana.

Pan-India star Prabhas is currently involved in four different film projects. Raja Saab with Maruthi is facing delays. The status of Fauji with Hanu Raghavapudi is unclear. So is the shooting of Salaar 2 Shauryangaparvam with Prashanth Neel. Similarly, it is uncertain when Sandeep Vanga's Spirit will begin filming. Furthermore, there are considerable doubts surrounding the sequel to Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD. Prabhas's simultaneous work on multiple films without clarity about release windows is a major concern for his fans.

It has been over a year since the announcement of Global star Ram Charan's project with director Buchi Babu of Uppena fame. This film is set against a sports backdrop. The release date was recently announced as March 27, 2026, but fans remain skeptical, wondering if this film will also face postponements like previous ones. The timeline for Ram Charan's film with director Sukumar is also unknown, as Sukumar takes his own time to craft his films.

Icon Star Allu Arjun is currently preparing for the announcement of his next film with Director Atlee. Additionally, there are news of a potential collaboration with director Trivikram, but details regarding its commencement and completion are yet to be revealed.

It is widely known that Man Of Masses NTR will soon be working on a film titled Dragon with director Prashanth Neel. However, the commencement of Devara 2 with director Koratala Siva is still uncertain. Despite NTR's announcement of Devara 2, there seems to be a lack of concrete progress. There is also a film slated to be directed by Nelson and produced by Nagavamsi. Its pre production is yet to begin, and its theatrical release date remains to be seen.

Rowdy Star Vijay Deverakonda delivered an average-performing film, Kushi, and Family Star following the disaster of Liger. The prolonged delay in the release of his film Kingdom is causing despair among his fans. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, known for Jersey, Kingdom has generated expectations.

Natural Star Nani's fans are eagerly awaiting the release date of his upcoming film. Nani is currently starring in Hit 3, which is releasing on May 1. In the current pan-India trend, filmmakers are casting stars from various languages and planning productions on an extraordinary scale with huge ensembles. Hollywood technicians are being brought on board, which inevitably increases both the production time and budget. The creation of graphics and visual effects can take months, and significant time is dedicated to post-production. Also the OTT streaming giant demands and their intervention in confirming release dates. These are some of the primary reasons for the delays in the release of Big Stars films.

Directors Should Draw Inspiration From These Two

Sandeep Vanga directed Animal in a mere 72 days, and the film went on to earn over ₹800 crore at the box office. Anil Ravipudi delivered a Sankranthi blockbuster with Sankranthiki Vasthunnam in just two months, grossing close to ₹300 crore. This raises the question, why can't other directors replicate this efficiency and achieve similar success?
