Abhishek Bachchan is set to make a delightful comeback to the Housefull franchise, marking a homecoming of sorts for the actor. Joining the ensemble cast for the fifth installment alongside Akshay Kumar, Abhishek is all geared up to commence shooting for this comedy extravaganza.
Having first appeared in Housefull 3 in 2016 as the wannabe-rapper Bunty, whose circumstances lead him to pretend to be differently-abled, Abhishek expressed his excitement about reuniting with Akshay and Riteish Deshmukh for Housefull 5. The film also signifies his reunion with Tarun Mansukhani, known for their collaboration on Dostana.
“Housefull is one of my favourite comedy franchises, and coming back feels like returning home. It’s always been a great pleasure to work with Sajid Nadiadwala,” Abhishek shared in a statement, adding, “I am looking forward to having mad fun on the sets with my fellow actors Akshay and Ritesh. I’m also so excited to collaborate again with my dear friend Tarun Mansukhani. I’m really looking forward to working with him again after Dostana. This is going to be a lot of fun.”
Housefull 5 is set to be filmed on a cruise liner, with production scheduled to kick off in the UK in August. The film is slated for a worldwide release on June 6, 2025.
Sajid Nadiadwala, the driving force behind the Housefull franchise, expressed his thrill in bringing Abhishek back to the comedy realm. “I am thrilled to bring back Abhishek to the Housefull franchise. His dedication, comic timing, and sincerity will only elevate our film,” Sajid shared.
The Housefull film series, a brainchild of Sajid Nadiadwala, has been a blockbuster comedy series in Bollywood. Starting with Housefull in 2010, the sequels followed in 2012, 2016, and 2019. While Housefull 1 and Housefull 2 were directed by Sajid Khan, Housefull 3 was helmed by Sajid-Farhad. The fourth installment was solely directed by Farhad Samji.
Each installment has seen a stellar ensemble cast, with Housefull 1 featuring Akshay, Riteish, Arjun Rampal, Lara Dutta, Deepika Padukone, Jiah Khan, Boman Irani, and Chunky Pandey. Housefull 2 introduced John Abraham, Asin, and Jacqueline Fernandez, with the late Rishi Kapoor also joining the cast. Housefull 3 saw the addition of Abhishek along with Jacqueline, Nargis Fakhri, and Lisa Haydon. The fourth part introduced a new cast led by Bobby Deol, Kriti Sanon, Pooja Hegde, and Kriti Kharbanda, alongside Akshay and Riteish.
