KG.George breathes his last. Renowned Malayalam filmmaker Kg George, aged 77, passed away on Sunday at an old age home in Kakkanad, Kochi.
George, a recipient of the prestigious JC Daniel award from the Kerala government, was celebrated for his groundbreaking films in the 70s and 80s, which often delved into revolutionary and political satire themes.
Over his four-decade-long career, George directed a total of 19 films, including notable titles such as 'Swapnadanam,' 'Oolkatal,' 'Kolangal,' 'Mela,' 'Irakal,' 'Yavanika,' 'Lekhayude Maranam Oru Flashback,' 'Adaminte Vaariyellu,' 'Kathakku Pinnil,' 'Mattoral,' 'Panchavadi Palam,' and 'Ee Kanni Koodi.' Among these, 'Panchavadi Paalam' stands out as the most renowned political satire in Malayalam cinema. George had been undergoing treatment following a stroke and is survived by his wife, Selma George, and two children.
Some of his other notable works include 'Swapnadanam,' 'Oolkatal,' 'Kolangal,' 'Mela,' 'Irakal,' 'Yavanika,' 'Lekhayude Maranam Oru Flashback,' 'Adaminte Vaariyellu,' 'Kathakku Pinnil,' 'Mattoral,' 'Panchavadi Palam,' and 'Ee Kanni Koodi,' among others. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed his condolences on the passing of the veteran filmmaker.
