Hyderabad, Jan 20: An advocate and farmer, Komtireddy Krishna Vijay Azad from Karimnagar district on Wednesday approached the State Human Rights Commission (Shrc) pleading it to direct the state government to cancel the allocation of crop insurance announced by  Agriculture Minister Raghuveera Reddy.Mr Komtireddy also pleaded with the Shrc to direct the government to issue fresh allocations of the money proportionately to all Telangana farmers based on the loss accrued due to drought and floods.

The advocate stated that the Government's insurance package amounted to human rights abuse on farmers from Telangana region. Of the Rs 801 crore relief, the ten Telangana districts got only Rs 20 crore, while the Agriculture Minister's home district Anantapur got Rs 600 crore and Kadapa Rs 120 crore.Mr Komireddy claimed that farmers from Telangana, particularly from Karimnagar district, suffered more damage due to floods and drought than their counterparts in Anantapur.
