Karimnagar,Dec 22: At least six persons died and 25 others were injured when an Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (Apsrtc) bus plunged into a gorge near Basanthnagar railway bridge in Ramagundam mandal in the wee hours of Tuesday.According to police, the mishap occurred when the Apsrtc bus heading towards Godavarikhani from Hyderabad fell into a gorge near Basanthnagar railway bridge killing six persons, including the bus driver Ramesh on the spot.The bus driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a lorry coming in the opposite direction, police said.
The deceased includes a woman and five other commuters. The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained.The bodies were sent for post-mortem. Some of the deceased belonged to Malakpet in Hyderabad.The injured have been admitted to Singareni Hospital at Godavarikhani, police added.Ten of their condition is state to be critical, according o hospital sources. Karimnagar Collector and Superintendent of Police visited the spot. Basanthnagar police have registered a case.
