Raids to check illegal sale of crackers

Anantapur,Oct 16: In an effort to check the unauthorised sale of firecrackers, the sleuths of Vigilance department conducted raids at several places in Hindupur,Anantapur and Guntakal in the last 24 hours.The vigilance officials have formed squads to check the illegal trade of firecrackers, which are headed by the ACPs of the area.“We are trying to check the illegal sale of firecrackers, for which special instructions have been given to all the policemen to keep a vigil on the sale of illegal crackers,” said the officials.

The officials said that they have seized firecrackers and cases have been registered in the Hindupur and Guntakal in this connection.Similar measures have been taken in the Anantapur district where the local police stations have been instructed to arrest people selling illegal firecrackers.“We have the list of shopkeepers who were given licence to sell firecrackers. Other found selling crackers without license would be punished under the law,” the officials said.The officials also collected fine to the tune of Rs eight lakh from the shops who are selling firecrackers without valid licence.
