The new Director General (DG) of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Mr Arvind Rao, on Thursday denied that the agency has adopted a soft corner towards the corrupt IAS and IPS officers. “We will not spare any official, however big he or she maybe,” Mr Arvind Rao told media persons after assuming the new assignment. The ACB-DG on Thursday morning met the Chief Minister, Mr K Rosaiah, at the latter’s C-Block residence along with the new Intelligence chief, Mr Mahender Reddy, which is described as a courtesy call. Later, Mr Arvind Rao told waiting media persons that the people too should cooperate with the system in eradicating the evil of corruption. “Public cooperation is important in putting an end to such evil practices,” he said. He denied that the ACB senior officers are hesitant to conduct raids on the IAS and IPS officers, who are close to the corridors of power. “Such impression is wrong. Any corrupt official, however big post he or she might be holding, will not be spared,” he added.

Mr Arvind Rao promised to take every possible measure to end the practice of corruption in high places. “The agency has already initiated several steps in this regard. Any tip-off on the under hand dealings of the officials will be viewed seriously,” he noted. He appeared a bit relieved on taking up the new assignment. Mr Arvind Rao has recently met the Chief Minister seeking a shift from his earlier posting as Intelligence chief.
