Filmmakers troubles with OTTs

Following the outbreak of coronavirus which resulted in the closure of theatres, movie lovers turned to Otts for entertainment. Many started analysing whether the OTT revolution affects theatres. Lockdowns may increase of corona second wave sees a surge and this turns Otts the only option for entertainment. Top Otts like Amazon Prime, Netflix, Zee 5, MX player are ready to pay crores for rich content.

Already few Telugu cinemas had OTT releases and that included low and medium budget films. But many rue that Telugu cinema is getting killed in Otts. Content-rich films are getting good response while others are failing. Though films from all languages are getting good response in Otts, the viewers are unanimous in their credit that Telugu movies are substandard among the lot. This is impacting even the content-rich films in the industry. Telugu low budget films are not having much demand on Otts. Analysts say the makers should concentrate on strong content as crime and thriller genres are in demand on Otts.
