Multiplexes often find acceptance from families who look for value for money. There are many multiplexes down south and it is coming out that many more multiplex chains are coming with plans to expand in South. A survey reveals that there is scope for multiplexes to expand where single screens are ruling the roost. The survey also points that there is lot of scope to encourage investments in multiplexes.

Hope is increasing as people are thronging to theatres risking corona virus pandemic. Multiplexes chain are planning to expand their business not only in Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru but also in small cities like Tumkur, Vizag, Vijayawada, Gulbarga and Belgaum as they are having 60% share. Some chains are already in talks to acquire single screens.

Inox which has one out of every third screen it opens in South is planning to expand in the next 18 months. Since South movie lovers not only watch Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam films but also Hindi and English films, PVR is planning to open theaters in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mysore, Coimbatore sant Vizag. 

Cinepolis feels all the five South States have an average capacity of 200000 viewers post screen per screen per year. Compared to North, single screens are prevalent in South but multiplexes are expanding quickly. Accordingly more than 1000 multiplexes may come up this year in South.
