Ott-is gunning for the top slot as per its name ‘Over The Top’. Thanks to the coronavirus and the subsequent lockdown with all people confined to houses, craze for Ott platforms increased tremendously. With subscribers increasing, Ott platforms are witnessing a surge in viewership.

Seeing the current trend days may soon come when most of the films get released in Ott rather than in theatres. No one is sure when the theatres will open and when normalcy will return due to coronavirus. It is not clear whether people will come to see films in theatres even after corona virus is controlled and lockdown is completely lifted.

People may get used and prefer to watch films on Ott in their houses. So Ott owners are going all out to capture the market seizing the opportunity. They are planning to rope in star actresses and actors and make web-series and lure the people towards them. Currently they are roping in Bollywood actors. Now Ott owners are concentrating on Tollywood stars.

Currently Otts are roping in fadeout heroines, low profile heroines or who are reeling under the string of flops. Thus they are not only bringing them into limelight by offering them opportunity but also using the local talent and increasing their viewership.

Producers sidelined these stars as they have been demanding more than their market rate. But the same actors are receiving remuneration whatever Ott owners are offering them. But one look at these webseries shows that though the webseries are becoming successful, the actors are not getting the desired recognition.
