AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy suffered a major setback as the CBI special court dismissed his plea to get exempted from his appearances before the court on every Friday in disproportionate assets case.
The Court believed in CBI argument that the accused tried to manipulate the witnesses when he was an MP. Now that, he is being the CM, the witnesses would even be more manipulated.
Hitherto, YS Jagan lodged a petition pleading the court to get his counsel allowed every Friday to represent the cases on his behalf. Since he has to shoulder several responsibilities as a CM, it would be difficult to attend the court every Friday. Mr Reddy's counsel has also divulged that Rs.60 lakh would be expended for every Friday to appear to court which would be a huge burden for state's exchequer.
In the meanwhile, CBI's dismissal of Jagan's plea turned as a weapon for opposition parties as they are likely to take the issue to the public and may seek the opinion of the people on this issue.
