We have seen many wannabe filmmakers turning actors when directors saw an actor in them. Mohan Babu, Pawan Kalyan, Siddharth, Srinivas Avasarala, Vennela Kishore and most recently Rahul Ravindran wished to wield megaphone, but destiny had other plans for them.

Many are unaware of the factor until recently that Rahul Ravindran entered the industry with a wish of becoming director. After doing a brief role in Sivakasi, Rahul made his solo-hero debut with Moscowin Kavery which also marked debut of Samantha. In fact, both Rahul and Samantha become thick friends from then.

Rahul Ravinran took break from acting to make his directorial debut with Chi La Sow. Actually, Samantha helped Rahul to get backing of Annapurna Studios for Chi La Sow, because of which the film got positive buzz before its release.

Chi La Sow received positive response after its theatrical outing. But, the film failed to make big at ticket window. Apparently, normal audience had least expectations on the film that starred Sushanth who is yet to score his first hit.

Analysts opine that, had Rahul Ravindran himself played the lead role, buzz would be completely positive in all the quarters and also BO response too should be promising. In fact, Rahul has scored few hits as hero and his previous films did well in urban centers.

Chi La Sow is definitely a well-made film. But, roping in Sushanth for the lead role is a wrong choice. Apparently, Rahul thought of focusing only on direction for his debut directorial.

Interim, Rahul will next direct another Akkineni hero Sumanth in a film under Annapurna Studios production.
