Is the newly releasing Rs. 2000 currency note embedded with a Nano GPS Chip (NGC)? While some sections of media are highly promoting this unique feature of NGC doesn’t need any power source and acts as a signal reflector when receives signal from satellite giving precise coordinates and the serial number of currency back to satellite, other technocrats are calling this as a foolish talk.
Of course, NGC can be a technique to track the black money stored in any location within the world but when such technology hasn’t come to use in advanced countries, who and when designed it for India is the question?
Moreover, the RBI website hasn’t left any clue on NGC describing the salient features of Rs. 2000 Note. It simply says about, denominational numeral २००० in Devnagari, portrait of Mahatma Gandhi at the centre, Denominational numeral with Rupee Symbol 2000 in colour changing ink (green to blue) on bottom right, For visually impaired Intaglio or raised printing of Mahatma Gandhi portrait, Ashoka Pillar emblem, bleed lines and identity mark, Seven angular bleed lines on left and right side in raised print, Windowed security thread with inscriptions changing from green to blue when the note is tilted, Swach Bharat logo and Magalyan motif. Nowhere, RBI mentioned about Nano chip.
