Ramayana needs this much to achieve break-even

Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash's Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is slated for a grand release in November. The film is made with a whopping budget of Rs 2000crs and expectations are soaring on it.

In the midst of all this, speculation is on as to how much the makers need to recover to reach break-even. A trade expert revealed, "With its reported Rs 2,000 crore budget, Ramayana needs a massive opening. India bookings of Rs 75–100 crore and worldwide pre-sales of Rs 150–200 crore would create tremendous momentum."

He continued, "The film's star power, universal appeal and global reach could drive a historic opening, but strong word of mouth will be crucial for long-term success."

He explained, "South India could contribute around 35-40 per cent of Ramayana's total domestic bookings, with Karnataka and the Telugu states playing a major role, thanks to Yash's popularity and the film's universal appeal."

He predicted, "Considering its massive budget, an opening day of Rs 100–125 crore nett in India and Rs 175–200 crore gross worldwide would be an ideal start. The film needs a historic opening followed by strong word of mouth to justify its unprecedented scale,"

He explained, "Going by the reported Rs 2,000 crore budget and the 2.5x calculation, Ramayana Part I would need approximately Rs 5,000 crore worldwide. That's an extraordinary target, even by global standards. While the film has massive potential with its star cast, universal appeal and international reach, achieving such numbers would be extremely challenging."

He added, "Theatrical collections alone won't determine profitability, as satellite, digital and other rights will also play a crucial role."
