Ranveer Singh 300 Cr Zombie Thriller Pralay To Begin Shoot in September

Ranveer Singh will start shooting for Pralay, a high-concept zombie apocalypse thriller directed by Jay Mehta, in September 2026. The film will be shot extensively across Australia, with pre-production already underway. According to reports, Ranveer has begun intense physical and emotional prep for the role, given the genre’s demanding scale. The technical crew includes experts who have worked on major international zombie and VFX projects, signaling Hollywood-level production values for the Indian film.
Pralay is mounted on a massive Rs 300 crore budget, making it one of Ranveer Singh’s most expensive films to date. The story centers on a couple battling to survive as a zombie outbreak tears humanity apart, exploring resilience and love in chaos. VFX and special effects will be crucial, with the team paying close attention to creature design and post apocalyptic world building. Ranveer is also creatively involved in the project, participating in day to day discussions with director Jay Mehta.
Kalyani Priyadarshan is rumored to play the female lead opposite Ranveer in Pralay, which would mark her Bollywood debut, though no official confirmation has come yet. The film promises an experience unlike anything seen in Indian cinema, blending survival drama with large-scale zombie action. Industry sources say Jay Mehta has been developing Pralay for over two years, with extensive research on zombie lore and practical effects.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh has reportedly decided to stay silent on the Don 3 exit controversy and will not give interviews for the next 18 months, per Free Press Journal. His full focus is on Pralay and his other committed projects. With its Rs 300 crore budget, Australia schedule, and genre first approach for a Hindi A lister, Pralay is being positioned as India’s answer to World War Z and Train to Busan. Shooting is expected to wrap by early 2027.
