Nithya Menen Speaks On Women Roles In Cinema

Actor Nithya Menen spoke to a leading magazine about how women are shown in movies. She said objectification is not just a South Indian film problem. It happens in all film industries and also in other forms of entertainment. She pointed out that this trend comes from hyper commercial thinking where makers use bold scenes to pull crowds.
According to her, many films add such scenes only because they work at the box office. She called it a widespread issue and said the amount of it is too much right now. The talk came up as there is already discussion about Janhvi Kapoor’s scenes in the movie Peddi.
Nithya Menen also shared her view on how actors should handle such situations. She feels every actor needs clear limits and should speak up if they feel uncomfortable. Strong personal beliefs help a lot when someone asks them to do a scene they do not like. She said she cannot imagine anyone forcing her to do something just because it is common in films.
It all depends on what an actor values more, fame or self respect. She added that she has lost chances to work in some projects because she said no to certain scenes. But she is fine with that choice. She believes choosing comfort over fame is better in the long run.
