The iconic film 'Sholay' is set to re-release in theatres, 50 years after its initial release, to celebrate the legacy of its co-writers Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar. The film, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Hema Malini, Jaya Bachchan, and Amjad Khan, will have a special one-time screening in Mumbai on August 31 at Regal Cinema. 

Director Ramesh Sippy and the duo Salim-Javed will be present at the screening. This re-release comes on the heels of the success of the docu-series 'Angry Young Men', which explores the journey of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar as scriptwriters which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime.

'Sholay' was a box office blockbuster upon its release in 1975 and remains one of the most beloved films in Indian cinema. The re-release is a tribute to the magic of Salim-Javed's writing, which has stood the test of time. The special screening will be a unique opportunity for fans to experience the film on the big screen once again. Zoya Akhtar's Tiger Films announced the re-release on their social media handle, sharing a poster featuring the lead cast of the film.

The docu-series 'Angry Young Men' has reignited interest in Salim-Javed's films, including 'Sholay'. The series features exclusive interviews with industry legends like Salman Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, Reema Kagti, Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Abhishek Bachchan, and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The re-release of 'Sholay' is a fitting tribute to the legacy of Salim-Javed, who have left an indelible mark on Indian cinema.
