Distributors advice to Puri Jagannadh. Distributor Urges Puri Jagannadh and Charmy Kaur to Take Responsibility Amidst "Double iSmart" Box Office Failure.
A leading exhibitor-turned-distributor has issued a strong call for director-turned-producer Puri Jagannadh and his co-producer Charmy Kaur to become more responsible in their film production practices. This plea comes amidst the box office failure of their latest release "Double iSmart," which has left distributor Niranjan Reddy facing significant losses.
"If they don't change themselves, they will find it hard to release their films," the distributor stated. "I'm compelled to say this because I wish they make more films, but they are already facing a lot of issues with distributors."
This isn't the first time Puri Jagannadh and Charmy Kaur have faced backlash from distributors. Their previous film "Liger" also tanked at the box office, leaving distributor Warangal Srinu with substantial financial losses. Payments related to "Liger" are still pending, despite two years passing.
"Niranjan Reddy could now join forces with other distributors who suffered losses with 'Double iSmart,' demanding compensation," the distributor warned. "They are facing a shortfall in collections and need to pay back approximately Rs 15 crore to resolve their dues."
While both "Liger" and "Double iSmart" were sold on a "Non-Refundable Advance" or "Minimum Guarantee" basis, which technically absolves the producers of any obligation to return money, the distributor emphasizes the importance of ethical practices. "Puri and Charmme need to be more responsible and keep their word," he urged. "I hope they resolve their dues quickly and continue to produce films in the Telugu states. Otherwise, it will be a difficult road ahead."
This call for greater responsibility reflects the growing concern among distributors regarding the financial risks associated with working with Puri Jagannadh and Charmy Kaur. Their recent box office failures and ongoing payment issues have raised questions about their business practices, highlighting the need for greater transparency and accountability in the industry.
