Kanguva to have Karthi special

Director Karthik Subbaraj treated fans to a thrilling first glimpse of his upcoming film, Suriya 44, on the occasion of Suriya's birthday. The filmmaker shared a short but impactful clip revealing Suriya's captivating look and feel from the film, which has quickly gone viral.

The video, released on X, opens with the intriguing words "Somewhere in the sea..." before transitioning to "Royal Estate," presumably Suriya's stronghold in the film. We see his gang members standing at the entrance, setting the stage for an intense encounter. Karthik then introduces Suriya with a playful tease, "A love, a laughter, a war, awaits for you, the one!"

With a cigarette in hand and a gun pointed at the camera, Suriya delivers a commanding presence, promising a massy entertainer in theatres. The clip concludes with Karthik confirming the title reveal will be announced soon.

Filming for Suriya 44 commenced earlier this year, with Karthik sharing a BTS video last month showcasing the first shot taken on set. The video features Suriya sitting on a ledge with suitcases, facing away from the camera, gazing at the sea. After the clap, the camera zooms in with intriguing music, revealing Suriya turning around to deliver a chilling glare followed by an evil sarcastic smile. He then commands the camera to come closer, intensifying the anticipation for what promises to be a gripping cinematic experience.

Suriya sported a multicoloured striped shirt, a retro long mullet hairstyle, and a Fu-Manchu-style moustache, adding to his enigmatic persona. "The First Shot…#Suriya44," Karthik captioned the video. Joining Suriya on this cinematic journey are Pooja Hegde, Jayaram, Karuna Karan, and Joju George. While the official release date is yet to be announced, Suriya 44 is already generating immense buzz and anticipation amongst fans.
