Do Bollywood Stars often insult South Heroes? Mukesh Ambani's son Anant Ambani's lavish wedding saw many celebrities grace the event. Bollywood stars Shah Rukh, Salman, Aamir Khan and others graced the event while from South Rajinikanth, Ram Charan and others attended the extravaganza.
The pre wedding celebrations kickstarted with the traditional naach-gaana and all the fans and movie lovers for excited when Ram Charan, Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman danced to the popular Naatu Naatu song from RRR. At first Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir tried the hook step of the song and when they couldn't all the Khans invited Ram Charan.
Even as Ram Charan was coming, Shah Rukh started taunting him' Idli Vada Sambar'. Though at first, people did not react, slowly it started snowballing into huge controversy. Many attacked Shah Rukh for his insensitive comments while his fans supported him saying that he was only delivering the dialogue from his hit film 'One Two Ka Four'.
But many are of the opinion that while Ram Charan, Salman, Aamir and Shah Rukh are not having any problem, the fans and media are making a mountain out of the more. But there is no denying the fact that Bollywood is jealous of the growing popularity of South, especially Tollywood at the international arena. Things would have been different had the same comment been passed on a Tamil star, Rajinikanth, Vijay or Ajith. Hell would have broken loose.
However, everything depends on the real intention and if it is playful one should end the topic here. Many times, in Bollywood films, South names and customs are made funof and North movie lovers used to love at those crap jokes. This is similar to how Tollywood filmmakers used to make fun of Rayalaseema and Telangana dialect in their films. Many actress from either side, after attaining stardom or then fading out used to make derogatory comments on one particular industry to hog the media limelight.
Everyone knows how Sudeep Kicha and Ajay Devgn entered into war of words regarding south and Bollywood films and it is sad that many in the North do not even know that Hindi is not the national language. When stars like Mahesh Babu said Bollywood cannot afford him, it was blown out of proportion and the same thing happened when John Abraham and others reacted in similar manner.
They are speaking in a particular context and one shouldn't read in between the lines. Even in south, Tamilians insult Telugus as Goltis and based on that one popular website also came into existence unaware that it was a cuss word. Telugu people call Tamilians as Aravavallu and they get offended. Same is the case with Malayalees and Kannada people. Since North Indians are outgoing they play pranks more often compared to south Indians who are more reserved. That was the reason Anil Kapoor during Animal promo, danced to Mahesh's song and forced the reluctant Mahesh to come to the stage. However it is high time that film industry work as Indian film industry rather than get diminished as regions.
