Kanguva Telugu rights still open. Despite rumors suggesting otherwise, the Telugu rights for the highly anticipated Tamil film "Kanguva" are still available and under negotiation. A leading Telugu distributor revealed this information, stating that no one has acquired the rights yet. The Tamil producers are reportedly seeking a hefty amount above Rs 22 crores, causing hesitation among Telugu distributors.

Despite the film's extensive release plans in 34 languages and the excitement generated by Suriya's warrior persona, Telugu distributors remain cautious. According to the distributor, they are not rushing to secure the rights, despite the film's impressive teasers and trailers. Additionally, the Tamil producers' aim to sell the movie in over 30 languages will likely delay negotiations specifically for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The distributor acknowledges the uniqueness of "Kanguva," with its new backdrop and Suriya's transformed appearance. However, he points out that Suriya's previous ventures have not garnered significant success with Telugu audiences. While hits like "Ghajini," "Veedokkade," and "Singham" boosted his popularity in the region, subsequent films like "Seventh Sense" and "Brothers" failed to impress. As a result, Suriya's market appeal among Telugu viewers has diminished over time.

While the promos and posters have generated buzz among Suriya fans, the distributor cautions that the film's raw and rustic visual style, along with the extensive use of VFX and CGI, might pose a financial risk. He estimates that the Telugu rights could fetch around Rs 12 crores, but investing more in this action-adventure genre could prove risky.
