Rgv says he is a pervert. Ram Gopal Varma, a prolific filmmaker, has undeniably left an enduring imprint on the film industry with iconic works such as 'Satya' and 'Rangeela.' Nevertheless, in recent times, he has garnered considerable attention not just for his cinematic content but also for his outspoken views. Many, including critics and audiences, have criticized the transformation of his films, accusing them of veering into the territory of 'soft porn.' In a recent interview, Rgv candidly addressed these criticisms.

He asserted that society conditions people to feel guilty about what genuinely brings them pleasure. "I realized at one point in my life," he shared, "if you leave three things; your family, God, and social acceptance, you are the most free man in the world. After that, you can do whatever you want to do."

Furthermore, Ram Gopal Varma expressed his intention to "irritate" and "provoke" people through his films, believing that everyone desires the same level of freedom that he enjoys. He went on to say, "I'm fine if they consider me a pervert, I'm fine if they think I'm a maverick."

Addressing the label of 'soft porn' attached to his films, he defended his work, stating, "The subject matter demanded that level of sensuality. I have no qualms about it being called soft porn. My attitude toward this and how I talk about women, I've always been like this, even in college, before I entered cinema... I've always been that way, now I have the platform (to express myself). They may think I've become like this now, and I understand why they might perceive it that way. But right now, I'm enjoying my creative freedom."

Ram Gopal Varma also emphasized his continued success in creating profitable projects. He revealed an instance where he directed a film during the pandemic, which had a meager budget of Rs 2,000 but generated an impressive revenue of Rs 70 lakh.

In essence, Ram Gopal Varma's remarks in the interview reflect his unwavering commitment to creative freedom and his willingness to challenge societal norms, even if it leads to controversy and differing opinions about his work.
