A politician should have a clear discerning power when to switch loyalties and how to get along even with the worst enemies when things don’t seem favourable. Of course, politics knows no permanent friends or permanent enemies.
Realignment of forces and groups are common in politics during the elections. In one such move, the loyalists of Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas, particularly those who joined Congress recently are disillusioned after his byelections defeat from Nizamabad urban segment.
One such leader who is at the crossroad is former Telugu Desam MLA Aruna Tara. She joined the Congress in the presence of D.Srinivas during the campaign and took part in the bypolls process. After quitting the TDP, she joined the Praja Rajyam Party, but after the Telangana stir, the PRP got wiped out and she had no option but to join the Congress.
In the same way, Telugu Desam municipal corporators and other leaders joined the Congress.
With the defeat of DS and the pathetic state of the Congress in the district, they are now worried about their political future. They are in a dilemma whether to rejoin their parent party or continue in the Congress for their future.
According to sources, the new entrants into the Congress are unable to mingle with the Congress cadre. Had DS been elected in the byelections, the political scenario would have changed, he said.
District Congress Committee president G.Gangadhar admitted that the new leaders are in confusion. No one can expect negative results in the elections and in the same way the new leaders should adjust themselves with the party activities, he said.
