PM Narendra Modi led union government is said to have taken a sensible decision letting the IT department carry out raids on the BBC office, New Delhi. A few days ago, the BBC broadcast a documentary on 2002's Gujarat riots targeting Modi with a wicked strategy scripted along with the Congress party leaders.
The documentary's telecast was prohibited by the union government which resulted in the agitation of some anti-social elements in JNU, Delhi and a few other areas. "How dare the BBC broadcast such a highly controversial and twisted documentary? Don't they know the documentary telecast leads to religious riots in the country? These kinds of documentaries will create law and order problems and internal security break down. The government has given a befitting retort to the BBC," say the political analysts.
Meanwhile, the IT sleuths raided the BBC office, Delhi and seized the cell phones and laptops of over 100 representatives from the news agency. The IT officials, however, made it clear that they were verifying the account books connecting to the IT taxation.
