People of Amaravathi who have been protesting for more than three years against AP CM Jagan Mohan Reddy's government's decision to form three capitals achieved a sensational victory of sorts. In a stunning setback to the AP government, CM Jagan Mohan Reddy and his cabinet is forced to withdraw the three capitals bill.
Today AP cabinet called for an emergency meeting and in the meeting CM along with his cabinet ministers decided to withdraw the controversial three capital bill which they formed in 2020. It is known that Jagan Mohan Reddy after becoming the Chief Minister decided to enact AP Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of all Regions and passed the bill announcing the formation of three capitals, Visakhapatnam, Kurnool along with Amaravathi.
When AP government today called for an emergency meeting everyone thought it was to take stock of the incessant rains and the submerging of various districts like Chittoor and Nellore. But in a sensational manner, as the three capitals issue came for hearing in AP High Court, the Advocate General informed the court that the government will withdraw the three capitals bill and an announcement regarding the same will be made in the AP assembly.
Ever since its decision to form three capitals, Jagan Mohan Reddy's government has been suffering various setbacks in the court and to the top of it, the heat increased on it with all the opposition parties deciding to support the Amaravati farmers padayatra. Jagan Mohan Reddy's decision to withdraw the three capitals bill, is seen as a huge setback to his government and a sensational and stunning victory to the farmers of Amaravathi who have been protesting against the decision without the backing of any political parties for many years.
