The South Central Railway has suffered a loss of Rs 74 lakhs as passengers cancelled their tickets due to cancellation of trains and diversion following the affect of cyclonic storm in the coastal Andhra districts.
According to SCR sources, nearly 1,12,248 passengers have cancelled their tickets causing loss to the tune of Rs 74 lakhs to railways.
However, the South Central Railway (SCR) on Friday announced to run some express trains, which were earlier cancelled/diverted due to cyclonic storm in the coastal Andhra districts.
According to sources, Kachiguda-Chennai Egmore Express will run as usual from Friday. But the train starts two hours behind the schedule. As per the schedule, the train has to leave Kachiguda at 4 pm but now leaves at 6 pm.
The Chennai bound Hyderabad-Chennai Express, which is scheduled to leave Hyderabad at 4.55 pm, will leave Hyderabad four-and half-hours behind the schedule.
The Narsapur bound Hyderabad-Narsapur Express, which is scheduled to leave Hyderabad at 9.45 pm, will leave Hyderabad two hours behind the schedule, the South Central Railway sources said. The Secunderabad-Falaknuma express also running three hour behind the schedule.
The Vijayawada division also cancelled Janashatabdi express(Vijayawada-Chennai), Yashwntpur express, Bangalore-Kakinada Seshadri express and Navajivan express trains.
