Is it back to Square One? T-Cong leaders hold emergency meet

Not out of the Blues, but on receipt of some negative signals from Delhi, Congress MPs, MLAs and other senior leaders from Telangana region have huddled into an emergency meeting at the Jubilee Hills residence of Congress Working Committee member Keshav Rao here on Wednesday.Party sources who smelt a rat saw that the T-Congress leaders are sore with the party’s core committee, which is dilly-dallying the whole Telangana issue. The T-legislators, who defied the High Command's diktat, continued to align with the Joint Action Committee, and have once again issued a threat to the leadership.

They also refused to withdraw their resignations. The Telangana legislators also threatened to boycott the Budget session if the terms of reference of the Justice Srikrishna Commission do not favour the formation of a separate Telangana state. As reported earlier, the Centre had constituted the Srikrishna Commission to look into the Telangana issue. However, the Centre is yet to frame the terms of reference for the Commission. If the Core Committee succumbs to the pressures of the Telangana Congress leaders, it is for sure that the leaders of Andhra and Rayalaseema would also exert pressure and dictate terms to the committee.

Much depends on how the Core committee would react and make the Srikrishna Commission work.Against this backdrop, Telangna Rashtra Samiti President K Chandrasekhar Rao was closeted with his party leaders. As per indications, the TRS is chalking out its course of action, in case the Centre goes back on Telangana.Meanwhile, the Osmania University Joint Action Commitee met Rao on Wednesday and reviewed the situation in the light of the latest developments.
