Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has ridiculed the survey conducted by the Centre for Psephology Studies which claimed that TRS would win 109 out of 119 Assembly seats if mid-term elections are held in Telangana now.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the survey was apparently sponsored by the ruling TRS to mislead the people of Telangana. "TRS Government did not waive off crop loans, failed to clear Fee Reimbursement and Aarogyasri dues and did not fulfill other promises like 12% reservation for Muslims and STs and three acres of land to each Dalit family. Not a single major commitment made by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has been fulfilled during the last 28 months. Then on what basis, the Centre for Psephology Studies and a few media organisations conclude that TRS would sweep the polls," he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the survey was completely bogus and aimed at diverting people's attention from the failures of State Government. He said that the survey was part of mind games being played by KCR to keep people distracted from real issues. He said no section of the society, especially unemployed youth, was happy with the performance of TRS Government. Even NREGS workers were angry for non-payment of wages for the last few months. He claimed that the Congress party would win at least 80 seats if mid-term elections are held now.
The TPCC chief said if KCR was so confident of his party's popularity, then he should make all 25 defected MLAs and three MPs resign from their posts and face by-elections. He alleged that the Chief Minister had turned so insensitive that he was spending money on construction of new Secretariat while ignoring the fact that hundreds of farmers in the State were committing suicide.
Stating that the TRS Government would not last long, Uttam Kumar Reddy predicted mid-term elections in early 2018.
