Nalgonda, Jan 13: The Joint Action Committee of Osmania University on Wednesday launched a 5-km race for students in Nalgonda district to build pressure on the Centre to expedite the formation of Telangana statehood.The students took part in the 5-km race from NG College from 6 a.m and ended at Charlapalli in Rangareddy district. The participating students raised slogans in support of Telangana statehood.The students also criticized the indifferent attitude of the Congress party and the delay in the initiation of steps for formation of Telangana state.
They threatened to intensify the protests after Jan 18 to mount pressure on the elected representative and Centre to initiate measures for bifurcation of state.The JAC called upon people of the region to hoist Telangana flags atop their houses till the Bill on separate State was introduced in Parliament and asked employees to wear black badges while attending to their duties. The Telangana Joint Action Committee has set January 28 as the deadline for the Centre to announce a time-bound programme for the formation of separate Telangana State.
