Hyderabad, Dec 31: As per expectations, all the 13 ministers, who quit their posts to press for the demand of Telangana statehood, on Thursday withdrew their resignations.“Deeply satisfied” at the Centre’s decision to invite the political parties from the State for discussions, the ministers decided to take back their resignations. This was announced to media persons here on Thursday by the Minister for Tourism, Information and Public Relations, Dr J Geetha Reddy.Earlier, the ministers had a prolonged discussion with the Pradesh Congress Committee president, Mr D Srinivas, on the issue.
Emerging from the meeting, Dr Geetha Reddy said they were immensely satisfied with the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government’s Wednesday’s decision to invite the eight political parties from the State to New Delhi for deliberations on the Telangana issue and thus decided to withdraw their resignations.Profusely thanking the Union Home Ministry for its immediate reaction on the tangle, (inviting the parties for talks), and also the Congress High Command, the Information and Public Relations Minister said the PCC president too has impressed upon them the need to take back their resignations in view of the latest development. “This is certainly a positive response from the Centre on the contentious issue.
We feel that the UPA Government will certainly take a step that is acceptable for the people of the Telangana,” she stated.“In view of the Union Home Ministry’s response, the PCC president has asked us to withdraw our resignations and thus we have decided to attend to our duties as usual,” she explained.After making the announcement on taking back their resignations, the ministers met the Chief Minister, Mr K Rosaiah, at his chambers in the State Secretariat on Thursday.MOVE ANGERS JAC: However, angered at the sudden decision of the Telangana ministers to withdraw their resignations, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the Osmania University Students termed the decision of the ministers as ‘sabotage’ as the move could dilute the separate Telangana movement.
