House adjourned for the second consecutive day

Hyderabad,Dec 9:For the second consecutive day the Andhra Pradesh assembly was adjourned without transacting any business  on  Wednesday with Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) legislators stalling the  proceedings, demanding a resolution be  tabled on a separate state of Telangana. The hapless  speaker,Kiran Kumar Reddy adjourned the house thrice, but  his efforts to  carry on the  business in the house after adjournment  proved to be  futile. The house was stalled as 10 legislators of TRS continued raising slogans of "Jai Telangana" and sat near the speaker's podium. The  TRS legislators  were backed by  the  Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Communist Party of India (CPI) on this  issue.

The Congress government, however, said the debate would be taken up on Friday. When the  assembly  began on Wednesday morning, Chief Minister K. Rosaiah said the Telangana  issue was under the consideration of the central government."It is a sensitive issue. The government has to act responsibly. We can't table a resolution like that," he told the legislators. On behalf of the  house,  the chief minister and the speaker, appealed to the TRS president, K Chandrasekhar  Rao,to end the fast.

The Telugu Desam Party chief and  leader  of the main opposition N. Chandrababu Naidu also appealed to KCR to end the fast.In fact Chandrababu  said his party would support the resolution on separate Telangana if the Congress moves the resolution.Later the action shifted  to the  Mahatma Gandhi statue in the assembly premises where the TRS legislators staged a sit-in in front of the statue.Referring to the discussion on  Telangana issue,TRS legislator Harish Rao said when  parliament was debating the Telangana issue so seriously it  was unfortunate that the debate was not being allowed in  the assembly.
