YSRCP dharna on Oct 16: Jagan

YSR Congress Party will organize dharnas at mandal headquarters on October 16 to protest against the TDP government’s apathy towards DWACRA women groups and farmers by going back on the election promise of waiving all loans.

Interacting with DWACRA women groups here today, Party President and Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said: “the State Government has gone back on waiving the loans of DWACRA women groups and they have now become defaulters. They are undergoing turmoil as they have to pay penal interest as well and we will protest against the indifference of the TDP government at mandal level on October 16.”

The loan waiver has a telling effect on the economic activity of DWACRA groups and Chandrababu Naidu has promised moon during electioneering; after assuming power he has been trying to find ways and means to slash the welfare schemes and water them down by scanty budgetary allocations.

“Members of the DWACRA groups have told me that they have seen pavala vaddi scheme and interest-free loans during YSR term and now they are standing as defaulters before the banks as Chandrababu Naidu has deceived them by going back on the promises made during election.

They are now forced to pay penal interest while some of the groups have been declared defaulters. They did not pay the installment as they believed the words of Naidu while he was on electioneering and his breach of trust has become a burden on them as bankers are in no mood to listen to their version.

Chandrababu Naidu has gone on a spree of promises without working out the modalities properly with the sole intention to come to power and after assuming office is now searching ways to slash the welfare measures besides delaying and diluting them,” he said.

Lack of matching budgetary allocations to his election promises shows that he wants to evade implementation of the welfare schemes to the announced measure, be it pensions, ration cards or fees reimbursement.

He wanted to weed out over 15 lakh ration cards on some pretext or the other. During his earlier term, he has put people with a monthly income of up to Rs 2,000 eligible for ration cards, YSR has increased the income limit to Rs 5,000 which shows, who cares for the poor, he said.

To cover up the scanty budgetary allocations, he is cutting down the number of beneficiaries and has set up a committee to shorten the list of pensioners. For the 43, 11, 688 pensioners, the annual budget required is Rs 3,700 crores while in the actual allocation was only Rs 1,338 crores and the Chief Minister intends to fill the yawning gap by slashing the number of beneficiaries and setting new eligibility norms.

“We have to work together to fight this injustice and will hold dharnas at mandal headquarters on October 16 to highlight the failures of the State Government in fulfilling the promise of waiving agriculture and DWACRA loans,” he said.
