Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday unveiled several welfare schemes while addressing the people of Telangana from historic Golconda Fort on the occasion of country's 68th Independence Day.
Besides launching the schemes to distribute three acres of land each to landless Dalit families, KCR also made several ambitious plans. He announced that the recently constituted Telangana Public Service Commission would recruit nearly 50,000 people soon. Further, as many 3,600 vacant posts in Police Department would be filled in the next one year. He said nearly 5 lakh acres of land would be kept at the disposal of Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation to be allotted to different companies investing in the State.
The Chief Minister reiterated the government's resolve to establish Pharma City, Sports City, Cinema City, Manufacturing City and other infrastructural projects around Hyderabad. He said the city would be promoted as hub for education, health and garments. He stressed on improving the connectivity in Hyderabad through the establishment of bus and railway terminals. He also said that new airports would be constructed in different parts of Telangana. A network of satellite townships would be formed in and around Hyderabad. He hoped that Hyderabad would soon become Wifi and 4G enabled city.
KCR said that his government would allocate Rs 1,000 crore for the welfare of minorities and provide 12 per cent reservation to Muslims, as promised earlier. He said that judicial powers would be granted to the Wakf Board. Similarly, a committee headed by a retired judge would be constituted to provide 12 per cent reservation to Scheduled Tribes in Telangana.
KCR said that the government would not go back on its promise of regularising the services of contract employees. He said a panel has already been formed to study the proposal. He condemned the criticism on the proposed Intensive Household Survey on August 19. He said that the government aims to extend the benefits of welfare schemes to the deserving beneficiaries based on the data collected through the survey.
The Chief Minister also listed out various steps taken so far by his government since June 2. They include release of input subsidy to farmers, abolition of transport tax from auto-rickshaws and tractors, initiating the process to convert hamlets with over 500 population to Gram Panchayats. He said several news schemes would be launched soon.
During his During his half-an-hour long speech, KCR highlighted the importance and relevance of Golconda Fort to the Telangana's history and culture. He appreciated the vision and foresight of Qutub Shahi and Asaf Jahi rulers who constructed Hyderabad with all amenities.
