TDP Parliamentary Party leader Nama Nageswara Rao on Monday challenged TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao to contest and win against him from the Khammam Lok Sabha constituency.
Talking to reporters here, Nageshwara Rao accused KCR of enacting a political drama in the name of Telangana. Alleging that KCR has been minting money in the name of statehood agitation, he challenged the TRS chief to contest from Khammam constituency if he thinks people were behind him.
The TDP leader claimed that the Telangana region was developed during the regime of Telugu Desam Party. He said all sectors, especially education and health care, were improved when N Chandrababu Naidu was the Chief Minister. He condemned KCR for targeting the TDP while ignoring its contribution for the growth of Telangana region.
Reacting to Nama's challenge, TRS MLA K Tarakama Rao alleged that Nama was speaking on behalf of Chandrababu Naidu. He said that Nama's statement clearly indicates that he was a supporter of united Andhra Pradesh. Stating that the Telangana movement was first launched in 1969 with the fast of Ravindranath, he condemned Nama for trying to convey that Telangana sentiments were not strong in Khammam.
Demanding that Nama tender an apology to the people of Khammam, KTR challenged him to resign from Khammam and get re-elected.
