Ministers from the Telangana region are preparing to visit New Delhi in the next three days to mount pressure on the High Command over the statehood issue.
Although the ministers from the region are divided over the issue of raising the Telangana statehood demand at this juncture, a majority of them is in favour of capatalising from the current political situation. Besides asking the Congress High Command to give a clear statement on the Telangana statehood issue, the ministers are also lobbying hard to ensure that the leaders from the region gain out of the present situation.
Following reports of a major reshuffle in the State Cabinet and even possibilities of changes in the Chief Minister and Pradesh Congress Committee president's posts, the Telangana ministers would be reportedly pressurising the Congress High Command to allot either of the top post to a leader from the Telangana region. The ministers have already sought an appointment from Congress president Sonia Gandhi and they are likely to depart for the national capital in the next two-three days.
Meanwhile, Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy on Friday denied reports that the Telangana leaders were lobbying with the High Command for the posts. He said all the cabinet ministers have reached to this position only on their talent and never lobbied for the big posts. He also condemned allegations that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana were not doing their job properly. He said instead of criticism, the leaders should advise them on how they could strengthen the government and the party.
