Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday said that the government would address the power crisis in the State in next 10 days.
Addressing a meeting held by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at a private hotel in the city, the Chief Minister assured the entrepreneurs that the government was taking all necessary steps to tide over the shortage of power in the state. Expressing confidence that the government would resolve the power crisis, he said that the consumption of power has grown by 15 percent compared to last year. However, he said that the government was getting only 70 percent of gas for producing 2700 MW in the State. Due to supply in shortage of gas, he said that the government was facing power crisis in the State.
The Chief Minister informed that the government has come to an understanding with the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) to generate 500 MW of power. He said that the government would also purchase 1000 MW of power from private parties to meet the shortage.
Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the decision on Telangana statehood would have no impact on the industrial development.
Large number of entrepreneurs from South India attended the meeting and made suggestions over the establishment of industries in the State.
