Hyderabad,Oct 20:The Chief Minister, K Rosaiah, on Tuesday directed the officials to clean the Kurnool town of the slush, mud and garbage in just three to four days.He took notice of overflowing of private septic tanks due to the unprecedented flash floods. He asked the officials to immediately clean and empty the overflowing septic tanks in the houses in Kurnool.The Chief Minister was told that Gulpers were asked by officials in Kurnool and immediately 3 Gulpers were sent and 25 more gulpers will be dispatched by evening. The Transport Commissioner, Collector, R R District and GHMC Engineers are coordinating the sanitation work in Kurnool.
The Chief Minister asked the officials to mobilize 100 gulpers to be sent to Kurnool if needed so that the town would be cleaned at the earliest. 100 water tankers are already sent by the GHMC for this purpose.The Commissioner and Director, Municipal Administration will look after the cleaning of the septic tanks, Public Health Engineer-in-Chief will look after the drains and GHMC Assistant Engineers will monitor the sanitation work in Kurnool. They would report to the CM’s office every day regarding how many vehicles are engaged and how many drains are cleared etc.The Chief Minister was informed that teams are engaged in these areas in shift system round the clock. It may take 3 more days for the towns to be cleaned totally, the silt removal is completed in 60% of open drains. It may take 4 more days to bring 100% cleanliness and the street lighting brought to normalcy. Funds will never be a problem and the money is kept with the Collector to take up all works.
