Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana on Thursday left for New Delhi to finalise the four nominees for Rajya Sabha with the party's high command.
According to sources, the PCC has shortlisted the names of 10 aspirants for the four out of six Rajya Sabha seats which are going for by-polls.
The leaders shortlisted by the PCC include Tirupati MLA K Chiranjeevi, party spokesperson Renuka Choudhary, former speaker KR Suresh Reddy, media baron T Venkatram Reddy, Penna Cement owner Prathap Reddy, GMR chairman G Mallikarjuna Rao, GVK chairman GV Krishna Reddy and Congress Coordination Committee member Mohammad Ali Shabbir. The list also includes the names of present members K Kesava Rao, Dasari Narayana Rao and Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy too will leave for New Delhi on Friday to discuss the issue. The party sources said that Shabbir Ali, Chiranjeevi, Kesava Rao and GV Krishna Reddy have bright prospects of getting nominated.
Meanwhile, TDP candidates – present RS member MV Mysoora Reddy, former Assembly Speaker Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and former Home Minister T Devender Goud is vying with each other get nominated for two other RS seats.
If the TDP allies with the left party, it might have to leave one seat for the CPI candidate Aziz Pasha, who is seeking re-nomination.
The last date for filing nominations for Rajya Sabha is March 19. The elections will be held on March 30 and counting would also take place on the same day.
