'Administration came to standstill with resignations'

All the legislators and the Ministers from Telangana region are expected to abide by their resignation letters which were earlier submitted to Deputy Speaker Bhatti Vikramarka in the absence of Speaker Nadendla Manohar to mount pressure on the State and Central Government to decide on the contentious ‘Telangana’ issue.

All the Ministers, who tendered their resignation letters as legislators were said to be firm on their stand and there was no question of revoking their letters. Further no Telangana Minister has been attending to his regular duties at the Secretariat despite Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s appeal to them to resume their duties.

The Chief Minister is presumably in a predicament as he was not in a position to either convince the local legislators, nor is he in a commanding position to persuade his cabinet colleagues to discharge their duties.

On the whole the administration – disposal of files or attending to the developmental programmes among others has been affected to such an extent that there had been hardly any activity worth calling in the entire Secretariat.

The Ministers from other two regions were also not seen here as well with the exception of one or two close colleagues of the CM like Anam Ramnarayana Reddy of Finance and Botsa Satyanarayana of Transport. As if the Ministers’ absence was a windfall, the staff too were taking their job lightly. As a result the administration is not a on a sound footing.

Kollapur MLA from Mahboobnagar district, Jupally Krishna Rao and K Parthasarathi, Minister for Secondary and Intermediate Education met the CM here today. What transpired between them was not clear but on their return trip they were mobbed by the media persons to spell out their stand on resignations.

Krishna Rao said that they were abiding by their letters and resolved to continue till they received a positive reply from the government. “The government has to decide,” he replied in negative when asked whether the ministers would resume duties. “ There is no change in our stand,” he said and added that morally they had their own responsibility to stand their grounds.

He also made clear that the Seemandhra leaders also expressed their solidarity with their counterparts here. “ They were not coming out openly in support of our demand. But they were cooperating with us,” he said.

It was clarified that the seemandhra leaders did not come out with an open support as they had their own problems from their region.
