Geetha blast KCR on 'kickbacks' allegations, agrees with Sabitha

Major Industries Minister J Geetha Reddy on Tuesday criticised Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao and Telangana Political Joint Action Committee convenor M Kodandaram for alleging that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had received Rs 100 crore as ‘kickbacks’ for giving the nod to the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project.

Dr Geetha Reddy, speaking to media persons at the Secretariat and later at the Gandhi Bhavan, maintained that it was not proper to level charges that Rs 100 crore was received by the Chief Minister as kickbacks.

She stood by the Home Minister’s clarification that no injustice was done to candidates in the Telangana region.

The process of deletion of Clause 14 F was very much in progress, Dr Geetha Reddy added. “It has to receive the assent of the President of India. Meanwhile it should not be made as an issue,” she said.

Later, speaking to media persons at the Gandhi Bhavan, Dr Geetha Reddy, in response to Ms Sabitha Indra Reddy’s statement that Sub-Inspector recruitments in Telangana region would not be affected due to clause of 14F, said the Home Minister has assured to protect the region people interests.

 Referring to the Telangana statehood issue, Dr Geetha Reddy said that the leaders and all concerned in Congress were not prepared for any package. Only separate statehood would be acceptable to them, she maintained.

“Except the Telangana state, we don’t want any packages. The packages will not solve the Telangana problems,” she said.

“The Telangana problem is different and Gorkhaland in West Bengal are entirely different. We cannot look both on same angles,” she pointed.

 “An action plan on Telangana issue would be spelt out on July 1” she disclosed. Telangana MPs, Ministers, MLAs and MLCs would meet on July 1 at Exhibition Society Office, Nampally to chalk out future course of action plan on Telangana state.

Asked about the Satya Sai Trust affairs, Dr Geetha Reddy, an ardent devotee of the late Satya Sai Baba, replied that the government will initiate action once the Trust report is submitted.

Dr Geetha Reddy also invited Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana to inaugurate a bus shelter in Patancheruvu of Medak district.

If Mr Satyanarayana does indeed participate in the inauguration programme, it would be the first time any Seemandhra leader would be doing so, after the intensified separate Telangana statehood agitation
