Amidst a sea of yellow, Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu challenged YSR  Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy to introduce a No Confidence Motion against the state government, instead of issuing veiled threats.

Addressing the party' 30th annual conclave Mahanadu at Gandipet after lighting a lamp to inaugurate it, Mr Naidu dared Mr Jaganmohan Reddy to prove that he has the sufficient number of Legislators backing him by introducing the No Trust Motion. The former chief minister said that the YSR Congress Party chief has been issuing veiled threats and claiming the support of enough number of Legislators, and he has to prove his words.

“If Mr Jaganmohan Reddy introduces a No Confidence Motion against the state government on the farmers’ issues, the TDP will support it, provided that he has sufficient numbers to bring down the government,” Mr Naidu stated.

“We will support the No Trust Motion if it is introduced over the farmers issue as the TDP is committed to farmers’ welfare,” he said.

Mr Naidu advised Mr Jaganmohan Reddy to go to the Raj Bhavan and give a letter to the Governor, moving the No Confidence Motion, if he has the requisite strength to do so.

The TDP chief also rubbished the allegations levelled by Mr Jaganmohan Reddy that his party has any ‘match-fixing’ with the ruling Congress. The YSR Congress Party has accused the principal opposition party of having entered into a secret deal with the government and not raising its voice over the problems faced by the people.

The former chief minister said that the TDP is a party with a three decade history and will continue to be at the forefront on Andhra Pradesh politics. “The YSR Congress Party will soon disappear from the political horizon, either by being rejected by the people of merging with the Congress. Its president is involved in massive corruption. How long would it survive?” he stated.

Claiming that a stable and progressive administration was only possible with the Telugu Desam Party, Mr Naidu stated that the state has touched rock bottom during the tenure of Congress.

“Corruption levels have increased manifold during the Congress rule both at the state and Centre. We will continue our fight against this and give a fitting reply,” the former chief minister vowed.

He demanded that the state government implement 33 pc reservations for women in the local bodies to prove its commitment towards them.

The TDP chief also warned that his party would agitate against the state government if it reduces reservation for BCs in the local bodies.

Mr Naidu also alleged that both Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and Civil Supplies Minister Sridhar Babu have failed to provide relief and MSP for farmers due to their inefficiency, lack of political and administrative experience.

He said that the farmers in the state are in fix due to indifferent to indifferent attitude of government in helping them.

The conclave will see around 15,000 delegates discuss a number of issues facing the party, including the increasingly strident voices from inside the TDP to take a clear stand on the separate Telangana statehood demand.

The Mahanadu, a three-day event, will see party politburo members, MLAs, MPs and village, Mandal and district level leaders discuss the way forward for the party and the rapidly changing political scenario in the state, especially in light of the advent of a new party on the horizon, the YSR Congress Party.
