Bharatiya Janata Party president G Kishen Reddy on Friday condemned the Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu for describing his party as a `religious outfit’ during campaigning for the by-elections in Kadapa district.
Mr Kishen Reddy told media persons at his party office in Nampally that Mr Naidu had described his party as a ‘religious outfit’ to endear himself to the minorities. He also lashed out at the former chief minister for alleging that YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy had entered into a secret pact with the BJP in order to come to power.
Rubbishing the statements of the TDP leader, Mr Kishen Reddy said there was no need for BJP to enter into any alliance with Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s party.
Stating that BJP suffered a major loss due to allying with the TDP during the 2004 elections, he stated.
Mr Kishen Reddy also asked Mr Naidu to keep in mind on whose support he had become the chief minister after ‘backstabbing’ his father-in-law N T Rama Rao.
The BJP state unit chief also condemned the Congress for claiming to be the champion of Minority rights by providing four per cent reservations for Muslims.
“If the Congress had provided reservations for Muslims and Minority communities how could have Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas lost in the Nizamabad by-elections twice,” Mr Kishen Reddy wondered.
The MLA stated that the BJP would urge the Election Commission to curb the flow of liquor and money and ensure that the elections are conducted in a free and fair manner without giving any room for suspicion.
