“Why refuse if someone is offering you money? Take it, since it has been earned through illegal means but make sure that you still vote for the YSR Congress Party candidates,” said former minister Konda Surekha.
Ms Surekha alleged that the Congress have flooded Kadapa with ‘ill-gotten’ money, to lure the voters. “As much as Rs 150 crore has been brought in to Kadapa, to be distributed among you. Please take it. But make sure that your votes goes to the right candidate,” she said.
She further told the crowd which had gathered to hear her at a public meeting during campaigning for the by-elections to the Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies, “The Congress is in jitters. Its leaders are now fielding the namesakes of both Mr Jaganmohan Reddy and Vijayamma (YS Vijayalakshmi, the Pulivendula candidate), just to confuse you. You have to ensure that this ploy does not work by casting your votes to the right candidate. Defeat the Congress for your victory,” Ms Surkha added.
The staunch loyalist of the YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan Reddy further demanded that Minister for Health DL Ravindra Reddy should resign from the Cabinet.
“YS Vivekananda Reddy has resigned, but not DL (Ravindra Reddy). Why? Does he fear that he would not be taken back in the Cabinet after his defeat, which is certain,” she questioned.
Meanwhile, YSR Congress Party leader Ambati Rambabu said that the Congress is stooping to pitiably low levels to ensure that Mr Jaganmohan Reddy is defeated by urging his namesakes to file their nomination papers.
He said that the Congress was hoping that even if Mr Jaganmohan Reddy is not defeated, his margin of victory may be reduced by the confusion created.
