The Samaikhyandhra protagonists on Monday took one more small step forward to put Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao on the defensive by pushing for a probe into the allegations that KCR had minted money by playing with the sentiments of the people and their aspiration.
Senior Telugu Desam Party leader Devineni Umamaheswara Rao told media persons at the Assembly Media Point that allegations against KCR that he has minted money in the name of the Telangana sentiment should be probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Mr Umamaheswara Rao said such allegations that the Telangana leader playing with the sentiments and lives of Telangana people by provoking them on the regional lines and amassing assets and properties in the name of Telangana sentiment must be investigated thoroughly. Any CBI inquiry into these will bring the facts to light. “The probe will also unveil the people who are provoking the Telangana sentiments for their selfish needs and not for the welfare of the people at large.
The TDP leader also alleged that the TRS chief has made three MLAs scapegoats for the MLC election debacle and suspended them. “Rumours that KCR has taken kickbacks from Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and manipulated the voting in the MLC elections are also being aired,” the senior leader pointed out. He suspected that KCR may have suspended the three MLAs and made them scapegoats to cover his manipulations after facing a backlash.
To cover his lapses and to divert the attention of people, Mr Umamaheswara Rao said, KCR was making baseless charges against Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu and hurting the sentiments of Seemandhra people. He warned KCR of serious consequences if he did not control his tongue. The TDP leader also sought KCR’s apology to the Seemandhra people for hurting their sentiments.
Reminding that TDP had given political life to the TRS leader, Mr Umamaheswara Rao said that KCR should not forget the party which laid the path of his political career. Alleging that KCR is the main hurdle in the formation of Telangana, the TDP leader asked why he was not criticizing Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee over the delay in solving the Telangana statehood issue. “This clearly indicates that how KCR committed is to the Telangana issue,” he stated.
If KCR raises the Telangana issue properly in Parliament, the Centre will have no option but to announce its decision, Mr Umamaheswara Rao stated. MLA Linga Reddy was also present.
