AP govt sops to tempt Tollywood. Telangana CM Revanth Reddy has been in the forefront of pleasing the Tollywood. Already his government constituted a committee for Gaddar Awards and is planning to come up with new initiatives to please the industry.
In the midst of all this, it is coming out that AP Govt headed by CM Chandrababu is planning to come up with sops to tempt Tollywood. A producer shares . “AP govt is planning to revive Nandi awards which were discontinued by the previous government and it would be celebration time for the film fraternity since present dispensation is quite friendly to Tollywood,”
He goes on to add “When N Chandrababu Naidu was Chief Minister between 2014 to 2019, his government organized the event and bestowed awards on talented actors, actresses, and directors besides top technicians. However, it was discontinued under the YCP government, but now they are set to make a comeback,”
Top Tollywood celebrities met AP Dy CM Pawan Kalyan and also MLA Balakrishna. He shares "Just a few months ago, industry bigwigs met actor-turned-politicians Nandamuri Balakrishna and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. The Telugu film industry has been reeling under heavy taxes like GST and seeking few exemptions to reduce the burden on producers. “They could seek a refund in state GST and also request a few more sops for filmmakers and theatre owners to help the industry to survive. The TDP government in the past, intended to refund 9% out of 18% state GST it collects from the sale of tickets and it would be a big relief to reeling producers,’
He adds "“Its free of cost and filmmakers have to just pay Rs 1000 as document charges to APFDC for getting permission to shoot in parks, flyovers, streets, hospitals, dams, and highways. Producers could end up saving Rs 15 to 35 lakhs per film and also shoot films without any hassles. Whereas no such luck in Telangana state and particularly in Hyderabad city where costs are exorbitant and shooting charges vary between Rs 15,000 and Rs 3, 00,000 per day for various locations in the state,"
Batting for the AP government,he says "It has a lot of tourist spots so they would urge the government to make those spots shooting-friendly where big stars and directors could make their films without any fuss. In turn, those spots shown in the movie would boost tourism,” and concludes “Permissions for studios and recording theatres and other necessary infrastructure to enable Telugu filmmakers to work from Andhra Pradesh besides Telangana. Thereafter, aspiring Telugu makers and actors from Andhra need not come to Hyderabad. Rather, they could do their work near their homes,”
