The Union Budget for the fiscal year 2024, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, has sparked a wave of appreciation from key political figures in Andhra Pradesh. In a heartfelt post, Kalyan highlighted the government's commitment to fulfilling the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, with a particular emphasis on the Polavaram project—a key infrastructure development that has long been awaited by the state. Previously, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu and IT Minister Lokesh also extended their thanks to the Prime Minister and Finance Minister for the budget. Naidu acknowledged that the support from the Centre would play a crucial role in rebuilding Andhra Pradesh. He expressed gratitude on behalf of the state's people for recognizing their needs and focusing on capital investments, the Polavaram project, industrial nodes, and the development of backward areas in AP in the union budget for FY 24-25.
Lokesh, the state's IT and Electronics Minister, viewed the budget allocations for industrial growth, infrastructure, irrigation, and other sectors as a "new sunrise" for Andhra Pradesh. He celebrated the recognition of their struggle, stating that the people of the southern state now have a sense of pride. Lokesh noted that a special, comprehensive package has been designed for the state, encompassing key areas such as industrial growth, infrastructure, irrigation, and human resource development.
He specifically commended the generous contributions toward Amaravati and Polavaram, describing the day as a "red letter day" in Andhra Pradesh's history. Lokesh concluded that this is the "first step" in their collective journey to build a state of their dreams—one that is set for prosperity and development under the financial aid and vision of the central government.
