All India Congress Committee secretary and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Monday stated that Telugu Desam leader Devender Goud has no moral right to criticize the Telangana Congress Leaders Forum members, who are disbursing financial assistance to next to kin of victims who laid down their lives for the cause of Telangana.
Talking to media persons at the CLP office, Mr Sudhakar Reddy asked Mr Devender Goud to clarify his party’s stand on Telangana statehood issue before commenting on the Congress’s activities.
He pointed out that the TDP has lost its base at grassroots level since it has divergent views on Telangana, and advised Mr Goud to set right his house in order before making comments on other party members.
Reacting on the TDP Telangana Forum leaders proposal to stage dharna in front of Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s residence in New Delhi on Oct 25 seeking her to accept memorandum favouring separate Telangana, Mr Sudhakar Reddy stated that the TDP leaders should stage dharna in front of their leader N Chandrababu Naidu’s residence seeking his stand clear on bifurcation of statehood issue.
He asked the TDP leaders to stop targeting the Congress leaders and warned of serious consequences if this was not done.
In order to survive in politics, the TDP leader is resorting malicious campaign against Congress leaders, he alleged. But the people of the state are not in a position to believe the TDP’s cheap gimmicks, the MLC said
He recalled the statements of former chief minister and TDP founder Nt Rama Rao in which he termed Mr Naidu as a backstabber. The Congress has no need to learn lessons from such a backstabber, he stated.
