Mani Ratnam's Magnum Opus Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 has created history at the Tamil Nadu boxoffice. Based on popular Tamil novel with the same name, Tamil people consider Ponniyin Selvan as their valuable cultural asset. Their love towards that story turned into Rs 500 crores in the form of collections at the boxoffice. Now, their anticipation for the second part is also at an all-time high. Initially the makers announced that Ponniyin Selvan Part 2 will be released on April 28. Most of the PS 2 was shot along with PS 1. Only some patchwork is remained to film.
Editing, CG and Dubbing works are going on for PS 2. There have been rumours that the release date has been postponed. It was spread that Mani Ratnam has watched the film and he is not satisfied with some portions of the film. He wanted to reshoot them. But, as the film has multiple big actors, the dates issue rises for filming in time. Hence the postponement reports surfaced online that the film is pushed to September.
However, these turns out to be not true and these are mere rumours. A popular daily confirmed that a close source from the team has said that the post-production work for the film is progressing well and steadily, and the makers will be coming up with a surprise announcement soon as they have some unique plans for the film promotion. So, the latest report doing rounds on social media regarding the film's postponement is just a rumour.
