The resounding success of little film The Kashmir Files directed by Vivek Agnihotri virtually shocked the entire nation. The realistic and daring portrayal of the genocide of Hindus in Kashmir came as a shock for all who have been trying their best to bury the hard reality. Many Bollywood celebrities started avoiding talking about the film and even if they did, they were forced to do when scribes asked for their views like Aamir Khan and Salman Khan when they were promoting RRR.
There is truth when Vivek Agnihotri said that Akshay Kumar did not praise The Kashmir Files from his heart. It is known that The Kashmir Files virtually decimated Akshay Kumar's Bachchan Pandey at the box office. Opposition parties started blasting the ruling BJP government for promoting the film. In the midst of all this, former Union Minister Sashi Tharoor made fun of The Kashmir Files sharing the news that Singapore banned the film.
He posted "Film promoted by India’s ruling party, #KashmirFiles, banned in Singapore:". But Vivek Agnihotri took a strong exception and pointed out "Dear fopdoodle, gnashnab @ShashiTharoorFYI, Singapore is the most regressive censor in the world. It even banned The Last Temptations of Jesus Christ (ask your madam) Even a romantic film called #TheLeelaHotelFiles will be banned. Pl stop making fun of Kashmiri Hindu Genocide"
Anupam Kher also asked Sashi Tharoor to show some concern for his departed wife Sunanda Pushkar. He posted "Hey @ShashiTharoor Is this true that Late Sunanda Pushkar was a Kashmiri Hindu? Is the enclosed SS true? If yes, then in Hindu tradition, to respect the dead, you must delete your tweet and apologize to her soul"
